In 2010, we carried out a medical mission at the Ney Arias Lora Traumatology Hospital in Villa Mella. This was a moment of deep human connection and healing. Among the cases, we were privileged to perform a groundbreaking surgery for Gisel Arias, an 8-year-old girl born with an imperforate anus. This surgery was a milestone in the Dominican Republic, offering Gisel a new chance at life. In just three days, we operated on 40 children—each one leaving the hospital with renewed hope, thanks to the dedicated team of ENT surgeons treating conditions like adenoids and tonsillitis.
That same year, tragedy struck Haiti with a devastating earthquake. In response, Vanity For Humanity and the Divino Niño Foundation joined forces to help those in dire need of surgeries due to the quake's destruction. The results were immeasurable, as more than 300 surgeries were successfully performed. But our mission didn't stop there—we provided food and clothing, spreading care and comfort to those struggling in the aftermath of the disaster.
We also returned to the Oratorio Centro Juvenil Don Bosco in Jarabacoa, to bring joy to over 1,000 children. With donations of school supplies and toys, the event was made unforgettable as Major League Baseball players and singers uplifted the youth on World Youth Day, reminding them that no matter their circumstances, they are seen, valued, and loved.
Special Thanks to Dr. Freddy Herrera, Dr. Jose Luis Coronado and Lic. Theonil Estevez.
